In a significant political development ahead of the upcoming bye-elections for two assembly constituencies in Jammu and Kashmir, Anil Sharma, President of the All Jammu and Kashmir Panchayat Conference (AJKPC) and a prominent grassroots leader, officially declared his intent to contest from the Nagrota Assembly Constituency.
At an interactive program with youth and prominent people from over 50 Panchayats of the Nagrota Constituency, Sharma unveiled his Priority Vision Document; a roadmap to transform Nagrota into a model constituency.
He urged participants to critically evaluate the document and share valuable suggestions, assuring that meaningful inputs would be incorporated.
The document, titled “Towards a Stronger, Smarter, and Self-Reliant Nagrota”, outlines an inclusive plan across key sectors. It emphasizes infrastructure development through all-weather roads, modern bus terminals, and strategic connectivity projects to link remote areas.
After the youth interactive program while interacting with the media persons, Sharma said ” Youth empowerment and employment generation are key pillars, with proposals for advanced skill centers, startup incubation hubs, and sports academies.
In education, Sharma promises upgraded government schools with smart classrooms, libraries, and digital tools, plus scholarships and free coaching for NEET, JEE, and UPSC. A model degree college and digital learning hubs aim to bridge educational gaps”
The AJKPC president assured that Healthcare plans include modernizing Primary and Community Health Centers, deploying mobile health vans, and offering affordable diagnostics and preventive campaigns. Agriculture and the rural economy will be strengthened through expanded irrigation, organic and high-yield crops, and direct farmer-market channels.
The vision documents promises that Tourism and culture will be promoted via eco-tourism circuits, heritage trails, and spiritual tourism, backed by infrastructure upgrades and cultural events. Women empowerment features support for self-help groups, micro-enterprises, and focused initiatives in health, education, and safety.
Environmental goals of the vision documents calls for including plantation drives, river rejuvenation, solar energy adoption, and waste management. The document also stresses transparent, accountable governance through regular Jan Sunwai forums, service digitization, and zero-tolerance for corruption.
Anil Sharma reaffirmed his commitment to inclusive growth and people-first governance. “Nagrota’s future lies in honest leadership and collective progress.
I stand with every resident in this mission of transformation,” Sharma stated.
