The Jammu and Kashmir Ex-Services League (JKESL), the largest and oldest government-recognized body dedicated to the welfare of veterans, Veer Naris, and serving soldiers of J&K since 1951, continues its mission of service and advocacy. Founded by Brig Ghansara Singh, RB, OBE, OBI, the organization currently boasts a membership of over 22,000.
On April 3, a delegation of JKESL members, led by Lt Gen Rakesh Kumar Sharma, AVSM, SM (Retd), President of JKESL, met with Maj Gen Anupinder Bevli, Additional Director General (ADG) of NCC Directorate Jammu, Kashmir, and Ladakh at his office in Jammu. The delegation included Col Rajinder Singh, General Secretary, and Lt Col OS Chouhan, Secretary of JKESL.
During the meeting, key concerns of JKESL were presented and discussed with the ADG. The delegation emphasized the need for greater participation of NCC cadets in functions organized by JKESL, such as Martyrdom Day and the birth anniversaries of legendary figures like Gen Zorawar Singh, known as the “Napoleon of India,” and Brig Rajinder Singh, the “Saviour of Kashmir.”
Additionally, the delegation proposed collaborative efforts in sharing NCC training programs with JKESL and organizing motivational lectures by decorated war veterans, sharing their personal experiences to inspire the youth.
Maj Gen Anupinder Bevli responded positively to the concerns raised and assured all possible assistance from the NCC Directorate in support of JKESL’s initiatives.
