This high-priority operation is being led by the Commander of the 50 (I) Para Brigade, ensuring a well-coordinated execution of relief efforts.
Upon arrival, the Indian team was warmly received by the Indian Ambassador to Myanmar, accompanied by the Defence Attaché (DA) and Naval Attaché (NA) of Myanmar. Following this, the team proceeded to a designated harbour area located 45 minutes from the airport, where they set up temporary operational headquarters to plan further movements and deployments.
Expansion of Operations – 30 March 2025
The first reconnaissance team, comprising one officer and one Junior Commissioned Officer (JCO), was successfully inducted into Mandalay at 0840 hours (Myanmar Time).
Mandalay, situated 160 miles north of Nay Pyi Taw, has been identified as the primary area of operations. Recognizing the urgency of the situation, the Indian contingent is set to commence its full-scale movement toward Mandalay by 1100 hours.

While aerial insertion remains the primary mode of deployment for rapid response, parallel road-based induction is also being explored. This multi-pronged approach is aimed at establishing the Operation Theater (OT) at Mandalay in the shortest possible time, ensuring effective execution of relief and rescue missions.
Operation Brahma underscores India’s steadfast commitment to extending humanitarian support in times of crisis. The deployment highlights India’s strategic capability in executing swift, large-scale HADR operations beyond its borders.
With the Indian Army’s extensive expertise in disaster response, the operation is expected to significantly aid affected communities in Myanmar. As efforts intensify, the team will work closely with local authorities and international aid agencies to deliver medical aid, restore communication networks, and facilitate rehabilitation efforts.
India continues to uphold its regional responsibility through timely interventions, reinforcing its position as a dependable partner in humanitarian and disaster relief efforts.
