District admin starts preparation for Rajouri Day celebration

Deputy Commissioner Abhishek Sharma today chaired a high-level meeting to finalize arrangements for the grand celebration of Rajouri Day on April 13, 2025. A series of events and activities have been planned in the run-up to the celebrations, highlighting the rich history, culture, and communal harmony of Rajouri.
As part of the Rajouri Got Talent initiative, school-level competitions in singing, painting, and other activities will be conducted, and the winners will be felicitated on Rajouri Day. Additionally, a logo design competition for Rajouri Day will be hosted on the MyGov portal to encourage public participation.
The Department of Youth Services & Sports (DYSSO) will organize a football tournament at the FIFA-certified stadium in Baba Ghulam Shah Badshah University (BGSBU).The tournament will feature teams from veterans, media persons, district administration, and other institutions. A rally on road safety will be held two days prior to Rajouri Day to spread awareness about safe driving practices. A theatrical play depicting the history and legacy of Rajouri will also be staged at Raina Auditorium as part of the cultural celebrations.
Other events planned include a trade fair, blood donation camp, book fair, sports mela, and stage show. The Self-Help Groups (SHGs) will set up food stalls and showcase quality local products to promote entrepreneurship and local craftsmanship.
To mark the occasion, Balidan Bhawan, key locations in the town and the bridge will be illuminated in tricolour by the Executive Officer, Municipality, and Executive Engineer, PDD. The celebrations will culminate with a musical evening on April 13 from 4:00 PM onwards.
The Deputy Commissioner directed all concerned officers to ensure smooth execution of events and make Rajouri Day 2025 a grand and memorable celebration.
The meeting was attended by ADDC Rajouri, Dr. Raj Kumar Thapa; ADC Rajouri, Rajiv Khajuria; district and sectoral officers; prominent civil society members; and representatives from Rotary Club Grand.
