Deputy Commissioner (DC) Bandipora, Manzoor Ahmad Qadri today convened a meeting at mini secretariat to formulate a comprehensive action plan for waste management in and around Wullar Lake.
The meeting deliberated on effective strategies for preserving the ecological integrity of Wullar Lake and discussed waste management challenges, pollution control measures and sustainable solutions to ensure the cleanliness of Wullar Lake.
The discussions focused on waste collection, proper disposal, community participation and coordination between departments to implement an efficient waste management system. Qadri emphasized the need for a coordinated approach to waste management and urged all stakeholders to actively contribute to preserving Wullar Lake’s natural ecosystem.
DC directed concerned departments to submit detailed action plans outlining their roles and responsibilities in implementing waste management measures.
He stressed on enforcement of pollution control regulations to prevent waste accumulation around the lake besides directed the concerned to develop a sustainable waste management framework.
The meeting was attended by Project Coordinator, WUCMA Owais Farooq Mir; Assistant Comm-issioner Development, Irfan Bahadur, District Officer, Pollution Control Board, Chief Executive Officer, MC Bandipora and other concerned.
