Dogra Law College, Dogra Degree College, and Dogra College of Education, under the aegis of Dogra Educational Trust, successfully hosted the International Conference on “Innovations and Challenges in Law, Business, and Education for a Sustainable Future.” The conference, held in a hybrid format, provided a platform for both in-person and virtual participation, bringing together a diverse group of scholars, industry experts, and professionals from across the globe. The event explored innovative solutions and addressed the challenges of creating a sustainable future within the realms of law, business, and education.
The conference commenced with the customary Illumination of the Commemorative Lamp, followed by a Welcome Address delivered by Dr. Samar Dev Singh Charak, Secretary of Dogra Educational Trust, setting the tone for a day filled with enlightening discussions and invaluable insights. The inaugural session featured Keynote addresses from esteemed Chief Guest, Sh. D.C. Raina, Sr. Advocate and First Advocate General of the High Court of J&K and Ladakh, Special Guest Prof. Shrikrishna Deva Rao, Vice Chancellor of NALSAR University of Law, Hyderabad and Mr. Rahul Sahai, Chairman of ICC Jammu Chapter. Their addresses emphasized the need for innovative strategies to address contemporary challenges and foster sustainable growth in the ever-evolving fields of law, business, and education.
The Presidential Address was delivered by Sh. D.C. Raina, Sr. Advocate and First Advocate General of the High Court of J&K and Ladakh, who provided invaluable insights into the role of legal professionals and institutions in driving societal change.
He focused on India’s emergence as the world’s third-largest economy, noting the country’s ongoing economic transformation and the liberalization of its labour laws.
Prof. Shrikrishna Deva Rao focused on the intersection of law and technology, highlighting the growing significance of Digital Forensics and Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR) mechanisms in a rapidly digitizing world. He reflected on the critical role law plays in all professions, noting that in today’s interconnected world, legal frameworks are integral to diverse fields—from healthcare to technology.
Mr. Rahul Sahai addressed the corporate responsibility struggles that businesses face in light of constantly evolving laws and policies. He stressed that while businesses are increasingly adopting sustainable practices, navigating the shifting regulatory landscape remains a challenge. He emphasized the importance of corporate responsibility in ensuring long-term sustainability.
Following the keynote addresses, a Memento Presentation ceremony was held, where the esteemed guests were presented with mementos as a token of gratitude for their contributions to the conference.
The inaugural session concluded with a Vote of Thanks delivered by Dr. Bela Thakur, Director of Dogra Group of Colleges, who extended her heartfelt appreciation to all the dignitaries, speakers, participants, and attendees for their invaluable contributions to the conference. She acknowledged the success of the inaugural session and expressed her excitement for the discussions and collaborations that would unfold in the subsequent sessions.
The conference featured two comprehensive technical sessions that delved into key areas of concern in the context of sustainability. Technical Session 1 explored cutting-edge topics, including Cyber Law, Data Protection, Governance in Education, and the Legal Landscape of Artificial Intelligence (AI). Notable speakers such as Mr. Rishi Malhotra, CEO of Eta Consulting (USA), and Prof. Susela Devi Suppiah, Honorary Professor at UNISEL Malaysia, provided deep insights into the emerging challenges and opportunities in these fields, drawing attention to the evolving role of technology in both legal frameworks and education systems. Meanwhile, Technical Session 2 shifted focus to the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020, Sustainable Development, and Higher Education Reforms in India. Thought leaders such as Prof. Jyoti Narayan Baliya from the Central University of Jammu and Prof. Himachalam Dasaraju, Commonwealth Visiting Fellow, UK, contributed to the session with valuable perspectives on how NEP 2020 could reshape India’s higher education system while fostering an environment of sustainable development. Discussions centered around the integration of sustainability within education policies and the critical role of higher education in preparing students to navigate the complexities of the modern world.
After adjudging the two technical sessions wherein 20 Research scholars from different domains presented their research papers, the panel of experts, including Prof. Jyoti Narayan Baliya from the Central University of Jammu, Prof. Himachalam Dasaraju, Commonwealth Visiting Fellow, UK, and Prof. Satinder Kumar, Dean, Department of Law, University of Jammu.
Dr. Anitha Selvaraj from Lady Doak College, Tamil Nadu was awarded with the Best Paper and Mr. Rakesh Mohan Koul and Dr. Bela Thakur from Dogra Degree College were awarded first runner-up during the Valedictory Session, recognizing outstanding research and contributions to the fields of law, business, and education.
The event concluded with Concluding Remarks from Prof. P. Arunachalam of the Indian Institute of Advanced Studies, Shimla, who shared his reflections on the success of the conference and the key takeaways that would help drive future progress.
