As part of Operation Sadbhavana, the Indian Army organized a Stitching and Tailoring Course along with the distribution of sewing machines for local women in Marha, Poonch, from February 17 to March 20, 2025. The initiative aimed to enhance the socio-economic fabric of the region by equipping women with essential skills and employment opportunities, fostering self-reliance and empowerment.
A total of 20 enthusiastic women from Marha and nearby villages actively participated in this skill development program. The course provided hands-on training in stitching and tailoring techniques, led by an expert instructor. This initiative helped participants gain valuable skills in garment-making, which can pave the way for financial independence and entrepreneurship.
To recognize the dedication and hard work of these women, each participant was awarded a certificate of completion along with a sewing machine. The distribution of sewing machines will enable them to utilize their newly acquired skills for personal and commercial use, contributing to their financial independence.
The Indian Army’s Operation Sadbhavana continues to be a beacon of hope for remote and underserved communities. By promoting skill development and economic self-sufficiency, such programs create long-term positive change and uplift local communities. The initiative also reinforces the Army’s commitment to fostering goodwill and development in the region.
