District Level Committee (DLC) under the Chairmanship of Deputy Commissioner Bandipora, Manzoor Ahmad Qadri today conducted draw of lots at mini secretariat here for sanctioning of “Boat and Net” units under Centrally sponsored Scheme Pradhan Mantri Matsya Sampada Yojana (PMMSY).
Out of 30 group applications, 25 group applications were found eligible by the technical committee after scrutinization.
Through the draw of lots, four units, comprising of 16 fishermen were selected for assistance, with each unit having a cost of Rs 5.0 lakh with subsidy of Rs 2.0 lakh (40% of the unit cost) per unit under PMMSY. Speaking on the occasion, the Deputy Commissioner highlighted that PMMSY is designed to strengthen the fisheries sector through various measures, including providing essential infrastructure like boats and nets to traditional fishermen. He emphasized that the scheme helps to boost fish production and contribute to the economic stability of the fishing community. The Deputy Commissioner said that the District Administration is committed to support the fishermen by facilitating access to government schemes and providing technical guidance to them.
He urged the beneficiaries to make the best use of the assistance provided under PMMSY to enhance their productivity and improve their income levels. Among others the meeting was attended by Assistant Commissioner Development, Irfan Bahadur, Chief Planning Officer, Mohammad Maqbool Lone, Chief Agriculture Officer, AD Fisheries, Head KVK Bandipora, Progressive fish farmer, applicants and other concerned.
