Dogra Law College signs MoU with DLSA Samba

On the occasion of World Consumer Rights Day, Dogra Law College, in collaboration with the District Legal Services Authority (DLSA), Samba, successfully organized a seminar on “Consumer Awareness and Legal Remedies.” The event, held at the college Auditorium, witnessed the enthusiastic participation of B.A. LL.B. and LL.B. students, faculty members, and esteemed dignitaries.
The seminar commenced with the arrival of distinguished guests, including Th. Gulchain Singh Charak, Former Cabinet Minister and Chairman of the Dogra Educational Trust; Ravinder Nath Wattal, Principal, District and Sessions Judge, Samba, and Chairman of DLSA, Samba; Sandeep Singh Sen, Sub-Judge, District and Sessions Court, Samba, and Secretary of DLSA, Samba; and Dr. Samar Dev Singh Charak, Secretary of the Dogra Educational Trust. As a gesture of appreciation, saplings were presented to Ravinder Nath Wattal by Dr. Samar Dev Singh Charak and to Sandeep Singh Sen by Dr. Dharamveer Sharma.
Following a formal welcome, Arushi Khajuria, Convener of the Legal Aid Cell at Dogra Law College, delivered the welcome address.
A pivotal highlight of the event was the official signing of the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between Dogra Law College and DLSA, Samba. The MoU briefing was delivered by the Special Guest Sh. Sandeep Singh Sen, followed by the signing ceremony, marking a significant step towards strengthening legal education and consumer rights awareness.
The seminar was followed by an inspiring address from the Chief Guest, Ravinder Nath Wattal, who highlighted the crucial role of consumer rights and legal services in protecting the public’s interests and his expectation of active participation from Dogra Law college in various events conducted by DLSA. This MOU further reinforces the vision of Th. Gulchain Singh Charak Ji to foster legal awareness initiatives, student engagement in legal aid programs, and collaborative efforts towards consumer rights advocacy. This partnership signifies a meaningful step in bridging legal education with practical implementation for the benefit of society.
Dr Samar Dev Singh Charak, Secretary of Dogra Educational Trust, while expressing the gratitude to the dignitaries emphasized on the importance of such initiatives in bridging the gap between theoretical knowledge and practical legal exposure. He also expressed his gratitude to the District Legal Services Authority for their continued support and collaboration, stressing that this partnership would provide students with valuable opportunities to engage in legal aid programs and contribute to the promotion of legal awareness in the community.
The seminar featured insightful paper presentations by students, shedding light on various aspects of consumer rights and legal remedies. Shahnawaz, Student of LLB.B 3 Years 2nd Semester, presented on “Role of DLSA in Empowering Consumers Against Unfair Trade Practices.” Sana Ghai, Student of BALLB 5 Years 2nd Semester, discussed “Role of ADR and ODR in Addressing Consumer Grievances.” Amir, Student of LL. B 3 Years 4th Semester, deliberated on “Protecting Consumers in the Digital Marketplace: Issues and Challenges.”
Dr. Afiya Malik, faculty member at Dogra Law College, delivered the Vote of Thanks, expressing gratitude to all attendees and participants. The event culminated with the National Anthem.
