Senior BJP leader and former Minister Bali Bhagat today criticized the Jammu & Kashmir Congress President for maintaining complete silence over the unfulfilled promises made by the National Conference (NC) during the recent Assembly elections. He accused the Congress of morally supporting the NC-led government in J&K while failing to hold its ally accountable for its commitments to the people.
In a press statement issued here today, the former minister stated that the Congress, by extending support to the NC government, has indirectly become a stakeholder in governance. “The Congress leadership must explain why it has chosen to remain silent on the assurances given to the people of J&K. If they claim to be a party that upholds democratic values, why are they not questioning the NC government on its failure to deliver?” he asked.
Bali Bhagat reminded the people that during the election campaign, the NC had made grand promises, including providing 12 free gas cylinders, 200 units of free electricity, free education up to the university level, and creating one lakh jobs. Additionally, the party had assured a revamp of the public distribution system to increase the rice quota and ensure the availability of sugar and kerosene at depots.
However, Bali Bhagat pointed out that despite more than four months having passed since the formation of the government, no concrete steps have been taken to fulfill these commitments.
Further, the senior BJP leader questioned the status of the health sector reforms promised by the NC, for not establishing village and mohalla clinics to improve healthcare access. “Where is the free medical insurance coverage of ?5 lakh per year for critical diseases like cancer, heart disease, and kidney transplants? The people of J&K deserve answers,” he asserted.
Bali Bhagat also reminded the Congress leadership that restoring statehood is the prerogative of the Central Government and should not be used as an excuse to divert attention from their failures. He urged the Congress to clarify its stance and hold the NC government accountable rather than misleading the public with hollow rhetoric.
“The BJP remains committed to the welfare of J&K, and we will continue to expose the false promises of the NC-Congress alliance.

The people will not be deceived by empty words; they demand action,” he added.
