Dogra College of Education, Dogra Law College and Dogra Degree College successfully hosted its much-awaited Annual Sports Meet for the session 2024-2025, spanning two days of intense competition and thrilling sporting events. The meet, held at the Open Auditorium of Dogra Group of Colleges, began on 21st February 2025 with a grand inaugural ceremony, setting the stage for a vibrant and action-packed sports event.
The inaugural ceremony commenced with the arrival of the distinguished dignitaries followed by an introduction and welcome address by Ms. Aditi, Faculty, Dogra Degree College. The event was officially inaugurated by Dr. Bela Thakur, Director, Dogra Group of Colleges, who symbolically released Fire sticks into the air, marking the beginning of the sports meet.
The passing of the torch to Dr. Bela Thakur Director, DGC was done by Mr. Vishal Verma BBA student of Dogra Degree College who has the honour of being the only cadet from J&K to participate in the Rashtriya Ekta Diwas held at Gujarat, added to the excitement, signifying the start of the sports festivities.
An oath ceremony was held, where participating students from Dogra Group of Colleges pledged to uphold the values of sportsmanship, followed by the March Past, where teams from all the three colleges proudly paraded.
The day continued with various thrilling sports events, including volleyball matches, tug of war, and Kho-Kho competitions for both boys and girls, with students from Dogra Law College, Dogra Degree College and Dogra College of Education giving their best performances. The events also featured field activities such as long jump, shot put, and indoor games like table tennis, chess, and carom, all of which kept the participants and spectators thoroughly engaged.
On 22nd February 2025, the second day of the event saw more exciting competitions, with Badminton Singles and Doubles (Girls and Boys). Students of all the three colleges showcased their agility and determination in the badminton matches, further elevating the competitive spirit of the sports meet.
The grand Felicitation Ceremony was another highlight of the meet. The ceremony featured the arrival of distinguished guests, including Mr. Ravish Vaid, Table Tennis Coach & Faculty, Director of Sports and Physical Education, University of Jammu. Mr. Ravish Vaid was presented with a sapling by Dr. Komila Aggarwal, Assistant Professor, Dogra Law College. Following this, Mr. Ravish addressed the audience, inspiring them with his words on the significance of sports in shaping well-rounded individuals.
The felicitation continued with the concluding remarks by Dr. Dharmveer Sharma, Dean, Dogra Group of Colleges, followed by the presentation of a memento by Dr Bela Thakur, Director, Dogra Group of Colleges as a gratitude to Dr. Daud Iqbal Baba (in Absentia) which was received by Mr. Ravish Vaid on behalf of Dr. Daud Iqbal Baba. The event concluded with the distribution of trophies, and Medals to the deserving winners and participants, acknowledging their dedication and hard work. The overall winner trophy was won by Dogra Degree College. The vote of thanks was delivered by Mr. Gulshan, CTO/ANO, NCC Unit, Dogra Degree College, who thanked everyone involved in making the event a success.
The Annual Sports Meet concluded with the National Anthem, leaving participants and guests with lasting memories. A group photograph marked the end of the two-day celebration of sports, reinforcing the importance of physical fitness, teamwork, and camaraderie.
This successful two-day event showcased the athletic talent and competitive spirit of the students, highlighting Dogra Group of Colleges’ commitment to fostering holistic development through sports.
