The National Service Scheme (NSS) Unit of Dogra Degree College conducted an inspiring Induction Program to mark the beginning of its Seven-Day NSS Camp here today, bringing together students eager to serve the community and make a difference. The event was held with great enthusiasm, emphasizing the core values of selfless service and community engagement.
The program commenced with a Lamp Lighting Ceremony, symbolizing the illumination of knowledge and the spirit of service, setting the tone for the camp’s activities. This momentous occasion was followed by the Welcome Address delivered by Simran Thakur, NSS Programme Officer (PO). In her address, she expressed her excitement about the camp and highlighted the significance of NSS activities in shaping the character and values of students. She urged the volunteers to actively engage in all aspects of the camp and embrace the lessons of selflessness and service.
Balwant Singh Parihar, the UBA PI Coordinator, provided an insightful Camp Orientation. He elaborated on the goals and objectives of the seven-day camp, outlining the various activities and initiatives that the volunteers would be part of. His session inspired the volunteers, motivating them to actively participate and work towards the betterment of rural and underserved communities.
The program also featured Experience Sharing by two enthusiastic NSS volunteers, Akshita and Isha, who shared their memorable experiences from past camps. Both volunteers spoke passionately about the life-changing opportunities provided by the NSS, the challenges they faced, and the deep sense of fulfillment they derived from serving others. Their inspiring stories motivated the new batch of volunteers to embrace the NSS spirit and approach the camp with dedication.
The volunteers then took the 4H Pledge, a commitment to live by the values of head, heart, hands, and health, reinforcing their dedication to the welfare of the community and society at large. The event was capped off with an energetic round of the NSS Clap, a symbol of unity, teamwork, and collective service.
The occasion was further honored by the Address of Dr. Bela Thakur, the Principal of Dogra Degree College. Dr. Thakur emphasized the importance of social responsibility and how NSS plays a vital role in developing a well-rounded personality. She encouraged the students to engage wholeheartedly in the activities of the camp and make the most of this unique learning experience.
The program concluded with a vote of thanks by Shivangi Dhrora, who expressed her heartfelt gratitude to all the dignitaries, volunteers, and speakers for their contributions, making the event a grand success. The event also witnessed the presence of Rakesh Koul, HoD, BBA & B.Com Department, Aditi Khajuria, IQAC, Palak Gupta, Convener, Eco Warrior Club, Pranika Gupta, Member, NSS Unit, Amarpreet Kour, Member NSS Unit & Rinkal Gupta, Member, NSS Unit.
Finally, the proceedings ended on a patriotic note with the National Anthem, bringing all participants together in a moment of solidarity and national pride.
This induction program marked a meaningful start to the Seven-Day NSS Camp at Dogra Degree College, setting the stage for a week of impactful community service and personal growth. The spirit of volunteerism was evident throughout the event, and the college looks forward to the positive contributions of its NSS volunteers in the coming days.
