Nisha Productions Jammu today launched the second edition of its short film “Domestic Violence” at the Press Club, Jammu. This edition highlights a lesser-discussed yet significant aspect of domestic abuse—violence and humiliation faced by men, a subject rarely addressed in mainstream discourse.
The event was graced by Vikram Sharma, senior journalist and renowned film and theatre director, as the chief guest. Commending Nisha Productions for its bold initiative, he stated, “For the first time, a film has courageously depicted the silent suffering, humiliation, and emotional trauma that men endure in domestic settings.
This initiative is truly commendable.”
Nisha Gupta, the writer and director of the film, shared her motivation behind this project. After the successful release of her previous film focusing on violence against women, she was approached by several men urging her to highlight their struggles as well. Recognizing that women have dedicated support systems such as women’s cells and NGOs, she emphasized the need for similar institutions that address grievances of men who suffer domestic abuse.
The film received high praise from the distinguished guests present at the event, who lauded Nisha Gupta’s bold effort in shedding light on this sensitive issue. “Domestic Violence” is currently available on Nisha Gupta’s YouTube channel, where it has been receiving an encouraging response from viewers.
This initiative marks a significant step towards fostering conversations on gender-neutral support systems for victims of domestic violence, regardless of gender.
