CRC Jammu organises awareness programme in Collaboration with FICCI FLO JKL and MIET

In an effort to promote social justice and inclusion, Composite Regional Center (CRC) Jammu (Samba), in collaboration with FICCI FLO JKL and Model Institute of Engineering and Technology (MIET), Jammu, organized an awareness programme on the occasion of World Day of Social Justice. The event was held at MIET, KotBhalwal, Jammu, on February 20, 2025, with a focus on the theme “Empowering Inclusion: Bridging the Gap for Social Justice.”
The programme featured a highly insightful awareness lecture by Hon’ble Speaker Smt. Surinder Kaur, Senior Advocate, J&K High Court, Jammu, who elaborated on the importance of social justice in achieving a more equitable society. Her speech emphasized the need to empower marginalized communities and ensure equal rights for all.
A total of 250 students attended the awareness programme, showing tremendous interest in the discussions surrounding the theme of social justice and inclusion. The presence of distinguished guests such as the Director of CRC Jammu and the Chairperson of FICCI FLO JKL added significance to the event. Both officials delivered inspiring speeches, encouraging the students to actively participate in promoting social justice within their communities.
Ms. Ruchika Gupta, Chairperson, FICCI FLO JKL, discussed the significance of World Day of Social Justice. She emphasized the need for equality, fairness, and opportunity for all individuals, regardless of their background. She highlighted the ongoing challenges of poverty, discrimination, and inequality that hinder societal progress and stressed the importance of promoting inclusive growth. Ms. Gupta called for a collective effort to ensure equal access to education, healthcare, and economic opportunities. She encouraged the community to support policies and initiatives that protect human rights and foster a just and equitable society for everyone.
Dr. Rohnika Sharma, Director, CRC Jammu, discussed the objectives of World Day of Social Justice.She highlighted the importance of social justice in creating fair, inclusive societies. Dr. Sharma emphasized the need for addressing disability (DIVYANGJAN), poverty, inequality, and discrimination, ensuring equal access to opportunities and essential services like education and healthcare. She also discussed the role of social protection systems in supporting vulnerable communities particularly DIYANGJAN and the importance of upholding human rights. Dr. Sharma urged collective action from individuals, governments, and organizations to combat systemic inequality and promote global peace, equality, and the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
Professor (Dr.) Ankur Gupta, Director MIET appreciated the joint efforts of both FICCI FLO JKL and CRC Jammu for successful completion of this awareness programme.
The programme was also graced by the Administrative Officer and Rehabilitation Officer from CRC Jammu, who provided valuable insights on the CRC’s initiatives towards rehabilitation and social integration of people with disabilities.
The event concluded with a formal vote of thanks, followed by refreshments for the attendees, ensuring a productive and engaging experience for all participants.
The event successfully highlighted the importance of empowering inclusion, bridging gaps, and working towards achieving social justice for all.
