The Internal Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC) of Dogra College of Education successfully organized an extension lecture on ‘Constructivist Approach’ for the students of B.Ed Semester- IVth, Session 2023-25. The event aimed to enhance the understanding of future educators about the constructivist methodology, which emphasizes student-centered learning and active participation in the educational process. The lecture was delivered by the esteemed resource person, Dr. Meenakshi Choudhary, Assistant Professor, Department of Education, University of Jammu, who provided valuable insights into the principles and applications of the constructivist approach in modern teaching practices. In her detailed presentation, Dr. Minakshi explained the key principles of the constructivist approach, including the 5E’s Model (Engage, Explore, Explain, Elaborate and Evaluate). The presentation was enriched with real-life examples and interactive discussions, which helped the students gain a deeper understanding of how they can implement these strategies in their own classrooms. Her expertise and engaging presentation left a lasting impression on the students, equipping them with innovative strategies to implement in their future classrooms.
The event commenced with a warm welcome address by Dr. Shefali Sharma, IQAC Coordinator, DCE, who set the tone for the session and expressed gratitude to Dr. Meenakshi for sharing her knowledge. She also said that the IQAC of the college remains committed to providing its students with opportunities to explore contemporary educational theories and practices, ensuring their holistic development as future educators.
The lecture was followed by an interactive Q&A session, where students actively participated and clarified their doubts. A formal vote of thanks was delivered by Mrs. Vintee Kumari, Lecturer, DCE & Member, IQAC, who expressed appreciation for Dr. Meenakshi’s contributions and thanked the IQAC for organizing such an insightful event. The session proved to be a great success, equipping the students with valuable tools and techniques that they can apply in their future teaching careers. Prominent among others who were present on the occasion were Dr. Vikesh Kumar Sharma, Principal, DCE, Mrs. Indu Puri, Sr. Lecturer, DCE, faculty members and students of Sem- 4th of Dogra College of Education. The program ended on a solemn note with the singing of the National Anthem.
