Facing a political crisis, AAP national convener Arvind Kejriwal on Tuesday held a meeting with Punjab CM Bhagwant Mann, Punjab ministers and MLAs at Kapurthala House in Delhi. The meeting comes amid rumours that there is a dissent within the party following the election debacle. There are also speculations that Kejriwal planned to replace Mann as Punjab CM. However, Mann quickly rubbishes reports about a dissent, stating that the meeting was called to thank Punjab leadership for helping with the campaign. “AAP national convener Arvind Kejriwal met all legislations from Punjab. We worked on the ground in Delhi, and he wanted to thank everyone. In Punjab, we have a government that works for the good of the people in the fields of power, education, infrastructure development and hospitals. We are working, and we have to speed it up,” Mann told reporters.
Meanwhile, there are reports that Kejriwal urged AAP MLAs and workers to be united. A source told reporters that Kejriwal wanted the party to be unified and work for the people after learning about their aspirations.
Kejriwal is also said to have urged the party workers to work hard to ensure the AAP returns to power in Punjab in 2027. He promised to work for Punjab as he would have a lot of time.
Mann is also said to have told workers that win and failure were part of the political game. He said he lost in 2012 and felt it was the end of the world “Then I contested again, became MP twice and is now the CM. He told us that we will fulfil promises,” Mann told AAP workers. Bhagwant Mann rubbishes Congress claim
Mann also slammed Punjab Congress leader Partap Singh Bajwa’s recent claim that over 30 AAP MLAs of the state’s ruling party were in touch with his party and could switch sides.
“Bajwa has been saying this. He should not count our MLAs and instead, see how many MLAs Congress has in Delhi.” Mann asserted that the AAP leaders are a “dedicated lot with no greed”.
