Chairperson DDC Ramban Unfurls Tricolor at District Police Lines to Mark 76th Republic Day Celebrations

Chairperson, District Development Council , Ramban, Dr. Shamshad Shan, unfurled the Tricolor at District Police Lines, Ramban, followed by the National Anthem, as part of the 76th Republic Day celebrations held with patriotic fervor and traditional zeal.
The event witnessed the presence of MLA Ramban, Arjun Singh Raju, Deputy Commissioner Ramban, Baseer-Ul-Haq Chaudhary, Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP), Kulbir Singh, SSP Traffic, Rohit Basotra, DDC Councillors, ADDC Roshan Lal, ADC Varunjeet Singh Charak and senior officers from the civil administration and police, along with prominent citizens, locals, and students from various educational institutions.
The Chairperson inspected the parade comprising 17 contingents, including JKP (men and women), IRP, Forest Protection Force, and students from local schools, and took the salute during the march past.
Extending her greetings to the enthusiastic audience, including locals, students, officers, and government employees, the Chairperson highlighted key developmental milestones achieved in the district. She noted the enhanced travel comfort on the NH-44 with the completion of vital tunnels and viaducts between Nashri and Banihal and congratulated the Indian Railway for completing work on Katra-Banihal rail section under the USBRL project.
In the Rural Development sector, she reported that 2,756 works have been sanctioned, of which 350 have been completed, with progress ongoing on the remaining. Under Swachh Bharat Mission (SBM), 1,418 individual household latrines (IHHL) have been completed out of 1,700 sanctioned. Additionally, under PMAY-G, 29,060 houses have been completed out of the targeted 35,838, with an expenditure of ?429.44 crore, and work is underway on 6,752 houses.
The Chairperson also highlighted achievements in the Health, Education, PMGSY, Jal Shakti, JPDCL, Agriculture, and allied sectors. She lauded the District Administration for successfully implementing developmental projects and flagship schemes while appreciating the public of Ramban for maintaining peace, communal harmony, and brotherhood.
The celebrations featured a vibrant cultural program presented by local artists and students, showcasing patriotic songs and other themes, which captivated the audience. Prizes were distributed by the Chief Guest among participants, and awards were conferred upon outstanding officers, officials, students, artists, and social workers for their exceptional contributions.
Meanwhile, various departments set up stalls to raise awareness about government schemes and achievements. Republic Day was also celebrated with similar enthusiasm in Gool, Banihal and Ramsoo Subdivisions, and other tehsil headquarters and institutions across the district.
