Rouble Nagi, recently appointed member of the National Commission for Minorities (NCM) has made an irresponsible and unwarranted statement on return of the Displaced Community of the Kashmiri Pandits. She has exhibited her ignorance and overstepped her mandate, believes Girdhari Lal Raina.
Her ignorance is not limited to her knowledge about Jammu Kashmir but also about the commission she represents, GL Raina said. She clearly lacks knowledge and understanding about damage her statement has caused to the institution of NCM and also people who reposed trust in her by appointing her as a member of the Constitutional body, he added.
BJP spokesperson and former MLC was surprised and added that It was strange that she does not know the communities that have been declared as minorities in India and lacks understanding about the communities who strive for inclusion in this list particularly those who are reverse minorities as defined by UNHCR.
Does she know not that minorities at state level particularly in Jammu Kashmir are yet to be recognised as declared minorities and are not entitled to benefits of 15 point programme for national level minorities, Raina asked?
GL Raina stressed that Rouble Nagi needs to update her knowledge her mandate and issues she intends to speak also. Before commenting on return of the Displaced Community of Kashmiri Hindus, she should have visited their pockets in Kashmir and in transit camps in Jammu also. She must also gather knowledge about the worst crime against humanity in independent India that resulted in extirpation of aboriginals of Kashmir from their ancestral land.
Former MLC stressed that MS Nagi needs to know about death and destruction faced by the community including d devastation of the symbols of this millennia old civilisation. Continued encroachment of their immovable property and temples, shrines and cremation grounds should have been her focus.
Rouble Nagi has hurt sentiments of the displaced community; the community condemns her utterance in unison.
