The NCC Unit in collaboration with the Institution’s Innovation Council (IIC) of Government Degree College (GDC) Thannamandi felicitated NCC Cadets and celebrated National Start-up Day with fervor and enthusiasm as part of Viksit Bharat @2047 Abhiyan here today.
On this occasion a colourful prorgamme cum felicitation ceremony organized under the patronage of College Principal Prof. (Dr.) Farooq Ahmed. Prof. Altaf Hussain, ANO NCC in the College co-ordinated the programme.
While speaking on the occasion Prof. Farooq Ahmed, emphasized upon the need of developing leadership qualities and discipline among youth through joining NCC. He appreciated the NCC Unit of college for mentoring NCC cadets to bring laurels from time to time and congratulated the NCC Cadets felicitated by C and B certificates. About 15 NCC cadets were felicitated with C (5) and B (10) certificates by the College Principal. Dr. Gohar Iqbal, former CTO (Caretaking Officer) NCC and present ANO NCC Prof. Altaf Hussain who recently completed PRCN –Course from Officer Training Academy, Kamptee, Maharashtra, were also felicitated on this occasion.
In his comprehensive PowerPoint presentation, Prof. Altaf Hussain, who was also resource person, deliberated upon the historical background, aims, organization and role of NCC in Nation building. He also highlighted the incentives and career perspective in NCC besides personality development and number of other benefits associated with this prestigious organization.
Dr. Ashaq Malik, Convener IIC and IQAC Coordinator of College briefed the audience about the history of National Start-up Day since its inception in 2016 and achievements made through it. He quoted several examples of start-ups through which the youth are becoming entrepreneurs and job creators instead of mere job seekers.
Earlier, Dr. Gohar Iqbal introduced the audience about the programme. Rabia Kouser of BA Semester 6th and Ateeq Ahmed of BA Sem 1st conducted the proceedings of the programme whereas Dr. Shiraz Ahmed presented the formal vote of thanks.
