Dogra Sadar Sabha Organises Literary Meet to highlight Duggar History and Heritage in Udhampur

Under the guidance of Gulchain Singh Charak, President of Dogra Sadar Sabha Jammu and Kashmir, a significant literary meet was organized in Udhampur under the supervision of Krishna Kumar Bhardwaj, District President Udhampur, to celebrate the rich history and heritage of Duggar. The event was chaired by eminent writer Dr. Adarsh Prakash and attended by renowned writer and Padma Shri Awardee Prof. Shiv Nirmohi, along with noted writer and columnist Ashok Sharma.
On this occasion, Prof. Shiv Nirmohi presented a well-researched paper on Raja Udham Singh, after whom the town of Udhampur is named. He unveiled numerous lesser-known facts about the Dogra rulers and the historical significance of Udhampur District.
Prof. Nirmohi’s insights shed light on the life and tragic demise of Raja Udham Singh in Lahore in 1840, enhancing the understanding of the region’s illustrious past.
Dr. Adarsh Prakash, in his address, emphasized the importance of organizing such events to discuss and preserve the history, culture, and heritage of Duggar, with a special focus on Udhampur. He lauded Prof. Shiv Nirmohi for his meticulous research and praised his contribution to documenting the legacy of Raja Udham Singh. Adding a literary touch to the event, Dr. Prakash recited a poem dedicated to the rich cultural tapestry of Duggar.
The meet concluded with a shared commitment to continue efforts to promote the region’s cultural heritage and bring to light the contributions of its historical figures.
