J&K Forest Officers Meet Chief Secretary, Push for Long-Pending Reforms

As per the press release, the Jammu and Kashmir Non-Gazetted Forest Officers Association (NGFOA), led by its UT President Rajinder Singh Parihar, held a productive meeting with the Chief Secretary of Jammu and Kashmir to address long-pending issues faced by frontline forest staff. The delegation included Provincial President (Jammu) Gurcharan Singh, General Secretary G.N. War, Publicity Secretary Sugam Bral, and other key members, including Nitin Charak, R.S. Chib, Rakesh Verma, Vipin Sharma, and Dewakar Singh.
During the meeting, the association raised several critical issues, such as the reorganization of the Forest Department, removal of pay anomalies, implementation of the 2½-day salary allowance, and the timely establishment of Departmental Promotion Committees (DPCs) for all cadres.
The Chief Secretary responded positively to their concerns and assured that immediate steps would be taken to resolve them. He directed the Commissioner Secretary, Forests, to take necessary actions for addressing these matters, emphasizing the need for fair career progression and improved working conditions for forest employees. He acknowledged the vital role played by forest staff in preserving the region’s invaluable forest resources and the challenges they face in performing their duties.
Following this, the association held a detailed discussion with the Commissioner Secretary, Forests, who reaffirmed the commitment to resolving the issues on a priority basis. He assured swift and fair action to ensure the well-being and career growth of the forest staff.
The NGFOA expressed gratitude to the Chief Secretary and Commissioner Secretary for their proactive approach and commitment. They expressed optimism about the timely resolution of the concerns raised, which are critical to ensuring a motivated and effective forest workforce in Jammu and Kashmir.
