Dogra Law College, located in Bari Brahmana, today had the distinct honor of hosting a remarkable and inspiring interactive session for its law students, graced by the presence of Chief Justice Tashi Rabstan. The event began with the lighting of the lamp and a soulful Saraswati Vandana, followed by a warm welcome address by Shuchi Sharma.
NALSA theme song, set a poignant tone during the event. The students of Dogra Law College then presented a deeply moving skit on the issue of acid attacks, which left a lasting impact on the audience. This was followed by an insightful briefing on judicial provisions delivered by Rohit Verma, Panel Lawyer, HCLSC Jammu.
Chief Justice Tashi Rabstan, delivered a powerful and inspiring address that left a lasting impression on all in attendees. Speaking passionately, the Chief Justice emphasized the significant responsibilities and ethical obligations awaiting law students as they prepare to embark on their journeys to becoming legal professionals. He highlighted the critical role of legal education as the foundation for upholding justice, fairness, and the rule of law in society. He reminded the students that their chosen profession demands more than academic excellence; it requires a steadfast commitment to pursuing justice with integrity, humility, and compassion for the betterment of all individuals.
Commending the students who performed a thought-provoking skit on the social menaces afflicting society, the Chief Justice expressed his appreciation and lauded their efforts. Impressed by their performance, he directed the District Legal Services Authority (DLSA) Samba to organize a Lok Adalat, especially for the students of Dogra Law College, to actively participate. He assured that these students would be given opportunities to showcase their talents on larger platforms at future programs organized by the DLSA or the Jammu and Kashmir Legal Services Authority.
Furthermore, the Chief Justice acknowledged the exemplary work of Th. Gulchain Singh Charak, Chairman of Dogra Educational Trust, in contributing to society and supporting students. He urged the students to draw inspiration from his dedication and efforts, emphasizing the importance of learning from such role models.
The event was presided by Th. Gulchain Singh Charak, Former Cabinet Minister and Chairman, Dogra Educational Trust and was graced by several distinguished guests, including M.K Sharma, Principal Secretary to the Chief Justice of Jammu and Kashmir and Ladakh High Court; Sh. Ravindar Nath Wattal, Principal District and Sessions Judge; Rajesh Sharma, Deputy Commissioner Samba Amit Gupta, Member Secretary J&K Legal Services authority, Sandeep Sen, Secretary of the District Legal Services Authority (DLSA); Dr Samar Dev Singh Chark, Secretary of Dogra Educational Trust and GambhirDev Singh Charak, Member Trustee Dogra Educational Trust, whose leadership and vision have guided the Trust towards ensuring the holistic development of students across various educational disciplines also graced the occasion with their presence.
Together, these dignitaries, with their diverse backgrounds in law enforcement, legal aid, governance, public service, and education, made significant contributions to the success of this event, offering students and faculty a comprehensive understanding of the multifaceted role of law in society.
A special heartfelt recognition in the form of memento was given to these dignitaries by Th. Gulchain Singh Charak, Chairman of the Dogra Educational Trust, whose visionary leadership and relentless support have been fundamental in the development and success of Dogra Law College. Under his guidance, the college has flourished into one of the region’s most prestigious educational institutions. His dedication to providing quality legal education has played a pivotal role in shaping the future of legal studies in the region, ensuring that students receive the best possible opportunities to grow academically, professionally, and personally.
The Vote of Thanks was given by Prof Dharamveer Sharma, Dean, Dogra Group of Colleges. The event itself proved to be an invaluable platform for students to engage in profound and thought-provoking discussions regarding the changing dynamics of the legal profession in contemporary society. The Chief Justice’s address, in particular, was a clarion call for law students to remember the foundational values of justice, equality, and fairness as they prepare to take on the mantle of responsibility within the legal field.
