Encourages youth to embrace sports to stay away from drugs

General Secretary of J&K Pradesh Congress Committee and DDC Suchetgarh, Taranjit Singh Tony emphasized the vital role of sports in shaping the overall development of students.
Speaking at the Annual Sports Day celebrations at The Seminary High School, Chatha here today, Tony highlighted that sports not only foster physical fitness but also instill discipline, teamwork, and leadership skills among young minds. He emphasized the transformative power of sports in channelizing the energy of youth towards constructive goals and steering them away from harmful activities like drug abuse.
Tony also lauded the efforts of the school’s management in organizing such an event that not only encourages physical fitness but also fosters discipline, teamwork, and a spirit of healthy competition.
“Sports are not just about winning medals; they are essential for the holistic development of students. It is through sports that we can guide our youth away from drugs and towards a brighter future,” he said.
The senior Congress leader urged educational institutions to prioritize sports and recreational activities alongside academics to create a balanced and holistic learning environment.
He also called upon parents, teachers, and community leaders to actively promote sports as a means to secure a healthy and prosperous future for the youth.
“Investing in sports is investing in the future of our youth, as it helps build resilience and a positive outlook toward life,” he stated.
Tony also called upon the government to enhance sports infrastructure and ensure equal access to facilities for students across rural and urban areas.
He reiterated his commitment to supporting initiatives that empower youth through sports and education.
Earlier, the event witnessed the presence of Chairman Parshotam Sharma and Managing Director Rakhsha Sharma, who welcomed Tony and shared their commitment to promoting extracurricular activities for the betterment of students.
The sports day featured a series of thrilling athletic events, showcasing the immense talent and enthusiasm of the students.
