To honor the 53rd anniversary of the Indian Army’s historic victory in the 1971 Indo-Pak war, the Chenab Brigade, under the aegis of Tiger Division, organized a series of events to commemorate the Battle of Phuklian (Chenab) Enclave.
The celebrations began on December 3 with a motorcycle rally visiting the border villages of Pargwal, Makwal, and Marh in Jammu and Kashmir. This initiative aimed to educate the youth about the valiant exploits of the Indian Army during the battle.
During the rally, bikers from the Chenab Brigade engaged with the local population, conducting a movie screening and interactive sessions in border villages. The celebrations included a friendly cricket match with local youth and a painting competition in schools, fostering community spirit and awareness among the younger generation.
In a historic event today at Makwal village, the General Officer Commanding (GOC) of the Tiger Division unveiled a monolith dedicated to the sacrifices of the soldiers of the Chenab Brigade. The unveiling ceremony was attended by a large gathering, including civil dignitaries, officers from the J&K Police, members of the civil administration, local residents, and schoolchildren from border villages.
The monolith, inscribed with the words “Those who wrung it But Never Sung,” stands as a symbol of the soldiers’ bravery, sacrifice, and unwavering spirit. It aims to inspire future generations to draw strength from the heroic legacy of the Indian Army. These commemorative events not only celebrate the valor of the Indian Army but also strengthen the bond between the armed forces and the local communities of Jammu and Kashmir.
By involving the youth and locals in these activities, the Chenab Brigade reinforces the nation’s gratitude for the sacrifices made by the soldiers who defended the country’s borders with unmatched courage.
The Battle of Phuklian (Chenab) Enclave remains a testament to the indomitable spirit of the Indian Army, and its remembrance serves as a source of inspiration for generations to come.
