Gurdeep Saini lauds SKUAST’s role in providing high-quality seeds, modern agricultural knowledge to farmers

Sher-e-Kashmir University of Agricultural Sciences and Technology (SKUAST), Chatha Jammu, organized an awareness camp on Wednesday in the village of Gandli, aiming to educate farmers about wheat cultivation. Additionally, free wheat seeds were distributed to the farmers as part of the initiative. The event was attended by BJP legislator Professor Garu Ram Bhagat, who was the chief guest. Also present were former Panchayat Sarpanch Sardar Gurdeep Singh Saini, along with other former Panchayat representatives, including former Chairman Amar Singh Chark, Village Numberdar Kulbhushan Singh, former Naib Sarpanch Pyarelal, Vikram Singh, Sahil Singh, and others.

On this occasion, Dr. Vijay Bharti and other agricultural scientists from SKUAST Jammu briefed the farmers on how to achieve better wheat yields. They emphasized the importance of planting high-quality seeds to ensure better harvests and shared that SKUAST Jammu is distributing free wheat seeds to assist farmers.
Professor Garu Ram Bhagat, while addressing the gathering, highlighted the central government’s objective to double farmers’ incomes and stated that several beneficial and welfare schemes have been introduced for farmers. He praised SKUAST Jammu for its role in reaching out to farmers through these schemes, along with other agricultural departments, ensuring their proper implementation.
Former Panchayat Sarpanch Gurdeep Singh Saini welcomed all attendees and emphasized the significant benefits the farmers would gain from the program organized by SKUAST Jammu. He noted that farmers would not only gain access to high-quality seeds but also modern agricultural knowledge.
Gurdeep Saini shared that, during his tenure as Sarpanch, he had consistently worked to improve the conditions of farmers and ensured that government schemes were made available at the Panchayat level.
Saini also informed the MLA about ongoing issues in the Panchayat, requesting prompt resolutions, including a reduction in electricity bills and the timely completion of pending development works.
Along with Amar Singh Charak, other attendees shared their thoughts and expressed appreciation for such programs, recognizing the positive impact they have on the farmers in the region.
This event marked a significant step towards empowering local farmers and improving agricultural practices in the area.
