BANDIPORA, Nov 15
The Deputy Commissioner (DC) Bandipora, Manzoor Ahmad Qadri along with Senior Superintendent of Police, Harmeet Singh Mehta on Friday kick-started the Inter-district UT Level Rugby Competitions at SK Stadium Bandipora organized by department of Youth Services and Sports Bandipora. Athletes from seven districts of J&K UT, including Jammu, Baramulla, Pulwama, Budgam, Srinagar, Kupwara, and Bandipora, are participating in the competition. A total of 480 players are taking part including 216 girls and 264 boys representing their respective districts.
The event features 40 teams across all three categories, underscoring the presence of a broad and skilled bunch of competitors within the region. Speaking on the occasion, the DC expressed great pleasure in noting that the sports infrastructure in Bandipora district has been developed to such an extent that it is now capable of hosting the UT-level championship.
He said that further efforts are needed for infrastructure development and assured full support from the district administration.
While interacting with the players, M.A Qadri expressed satisfaction with the youth of Bandipora excelling in sports, noting that they have demonstrated their talent at various UT, national, and even international platforms.
