Dogra Law College, in collaboration with the District Legal Services Authority, Samba, successfully organized an engaging and insightful interactive session titled, “Navigating the Evolution of Criminal Justice: The Intersection of New Criminal Laws and Juvenile Justice in Modern India.”
The event, held on October 28, 2024, brought together aspiring law students, educators, and distinguished legal professionals to discuss the evolution of criminal justice in India focussing on incorporation of New Criminal Laws, particularly on recent changes in juvenile justice laws. The session began with a warm welcome address by Mr. Ramnik Bali, Programme Facilitator and Assistant Professor at Dogra Law College, who highlighted the importance of understanding the intersection of criminal and juvenile justice in today’s legal framework.
Sh. Sandeep Singh Sen, Sub-Judge at District and Sessions Court Samba and Secretary, District Legal Services Authority, Samba, and Smt. Shalini Sharma, Member of the Juvenile Justice Board Jammu, served as the esteemed resource persons for the session.
Their comprehensive insights shed light on new developments in criminal laws, the rights of juveniles, and the legal challenges that come with integrating juvenile justice within the broader criminal justice system.
A lively question-and-answer session followed, allowing students to engage directly with the experts, seek clarification, and discuss real-world applications of these laws.
Th. Gulchain Singh Charak (Chairman, Dogra Educational Trust), Dr. Samar Dev Singh Charak (Secretary, Dogra Educational Trust) and Prof. Dharamveer Sharma (Dean, Dogra Educational Trust) Presented the Memento to the resource persons as a token of gratitude.
The session concluded with a vote of thanks by Ms. Divya Kataria, Assistant Professor at Dogra Law College, who expressed gratitude to the esteemed speakers, participants, and the organizing team for making the event a success.
