The Research Cell of Dogra Degree College successfully organized a National Webinar titled “Case Study Across Disciplines – A Faculty Knowledge Initiative.” The event witnessed the participation of 100 attendees from various parts of India, emphasizing the importance of case studies in enhancing educational methodologies across disciplines.
The webinar commenced at 12 PM on Google Meet with a welcome address by Ms. Swati Mahajan, Convener of the Research Cell and Department Incharge of Commerce. Ms. Mahajan highlighted the significance of innovative teaching strategies in academia and set the tone for an engaging session.
The keynote speaker, Dr. Mohd. Imran, Assistant Professor at UPES, Dehradun, delivered an informative presentation that focused on various aspects of case studies. During this interactive session, Dr. Imran discussed different types of case studies, sources of data collection, and effective methodologies for conducting research across disciplines. He elaborated on critical topics, including the meaning and elements of case studies, steps for developing personalized case studies, as well as their advantages and disadvantages. The speaker also provided live examples of case studies and explored various platforms where such research can be published, such as Harvard Business Review, Emerald Publishing, Casecentre.org (UK), and ICMRIndia.org.
Moreover, Dr. Imran emphasized the importance of adopting innovative teaching methodologies during live classroom sessions. He introduced various software tools beneficial for qualitative research, including SPSS, R, Survey monkey website, Brand 24, and Money Control, equipping faculty with resources to enhance their research capabilities.
Despite being conducted online, the event fostered lively interaction among participants.
The session culminated in a question-and-answer segment where attendees eagerly sought clarification on case study methodologies. Dr. Imran welcomed each inquiry, ensuring that the curiosity of the listeners was addressed comprehensively.
The event was organized under the leadership of Mrs. Bela Thakur, Principal of Dogra Degree College, and facilitated by Swati Mahajan, Convener of the Research Cell. The formal vote of thanks was delivered by Preeti Sharma, Lecturer in the Department of Management, who expressed gratitude to Dr. Imran and all participants for their involvement.
Feedback collected from attendees was overwhelmingly positive, with many highlighting the session’s relevance and the valuable insights gained.
