The BJP National General Secretary and Incharge, J&K, Tarun Chugh, union ministers, Dr Jitendra Singh and G Krishna Reddy on Monday paid rich tributes to Maharaja Hari Singh on his birth anniversary during different programmes organized across Jammu.
Paying tributes to last Maharaja of J&K, Maharaja Hari Singh, the BJP leaders said that Cong and NC insulted Maharaja Hari Singh but BJP gave him respect.
“Maharaja Hari Singh ruled J&K for 22 years but he is still in our hearts,” Tarun Chugh said, while adding, “Hari Singh was a revolutionary ruler who worked for justice to every section of the society”.
Hari Singh was a true social reformer who broke all barriers and ensured equal rights and justice to all sections of the society irrespective of caste and religion, Chugh said. He said that NC-Cong not only insulted Maharaja Hari Singh but also sent him in exile and did not allow him to return to J&K till his death. Only his mortal remains came to J&K, he said. Dr. Jitendra Singh, while paying tributes enumerated reformatory step taken by Maharaja which were quite ahead of time. He said that Maharaja invited the specialized people in J&K to promote education, science and other fields to rejuvenate the region.
