The legacy of Maharaja Hari Singh Ji was celebrated with grandeur and reverence at Dogra Higher Secondary School, Shastri Nagar, Jammu, as the school commemorated his birth anniversary with great enthusiasm and pride.
The event commenced with a welcome address by Mrs Eisha Gupta , who highlighted the contributions of Maharaja Hari Singh Ji to the region and his vision for a progressive society. She encouraged the students to take inspiration from the Maharaja’s life and to work towards the betterment of the community.
The program included a series of performances starting with the ceremonial Presentation of Turban to Chief Guest of the day Samar Dev Singh Charak, Secretary Dogra Educational Trust, followed by a symbolic portrayal of Maharaja’s Entry. The teachers of the school presented a mesmerizing performance, Devi Vandana, invoking blessings for the occasion.
The Chief Guest, Samar Dev Singh Charak, Secretary Dogra Educational Trust, delivered an inspiring address, recalling the Maharaja’s visionary leadership and his efforts in promoting education and social equality. His words resonated with the audience, leaving a lasting impression on everyone present.
Vice Principal, Gagandeep Bedi, spoke on the significance of celebrating such events in educational institutions, emphasizing the role of cultural and historical awareness in shaping young minds. She reflected on Maharaja Hari Singh Ji’s dedication to social reforms and justice, urging students to uphold these values in their lives. A special poem titled “Chidi”, recited by the girls of class 5th, captivated the audience with its emotive expression.
The younger students from classes 1 and 2 performed a delightful Group Dance, adding vibrancy to the celebration.
Miss Shivani further enriched the event with her heartfelt poetry, dedicated to the spirit of Maharaja Hari Singh Ji.
The event concluded with a Vote of Thanks by the Vice Principal, who expressed gratitude to all participants and attendees, followed by the National Anthem.
A traditional Dogri performance, Kaarak (Jyotaan Jaagdiyan), added a cultural touch to the celebrations.
The program ended with the echo of the slogan “Jai Duggar! Jai Maa Dogri!”, symbolizing the pride and unity of the Dogra community.
The celebration was a fitting tribute to Maharaja Hari Singh Ji, inspiring students and staff alike with the rich heritage and values he stood for.
