The 10-day celebrations of Shri Ganesh Chaturthi Mahotsav, which commenced on September 7, 2024, at Shri Lakshmi Narayan Mandir, Gandhi Nagar, Jammu, concluded with the immersion of the Ganesh Murti in the River Chenab at Jia Pota, Akhnoor.
The Ganesh Mahotsav began with the installation of a beautiful Murti of Lord Ganesha by learned Shastries, in the presence of a large gathering of devotees.
Th. Gulchain Singh Charak, Former Minister and President of the Trust, along with other office bearers and members, participated in the ceremony, chanting religious mantras. Throughout the 10 days, special Poojas and Maha Aartis were held every morning and evening, with Prasad distribution to devotees daily. The Mahotsav saw a large turnout of devotees, reflecting the deep faith and reverence for Lord Ganesha. Today, a special Pooja followed by a grand Maha Aarti marked the conclusion of the celebrations. Hundreds of devotees participated in the event. Following the rituals, the Murti of Lord Ganesha was ceremoniously taken in a beautifully decorated vehicle by the President of the Trust, accompanied by learned Shastries, trustees, and devotees, for immersion into the sacred River Chenab. The prayers offered sought Lord Ganesha’s blessings and his return next year.
Th. Gulchain Singh Charak prayed to Lord Ganesha, affectionately referred to as “Bhappa,” for the peace, prosperity, and well-being of Jammu & Kashmir. He invoked the divine blessings to protect the region and its people, fostering harmony and progress in the state.
Prominent participants in the Maha Pooja and Visarjan ceremony included S. C. Rekhi (General Secretary), V. K. Abrol, K. B. Magotra, Karan Singh, Prem Sharma, P. C. Gupta, Sumesh Damral, Smt. Kiran Rajput, Krishan Gupta, Kulbir Singh Chib, Krishan P. Gupta, Ashok Khajuria, Sandeep Singh, Prashant Sharma, Tarun Gupta, and many other devotees.
