Indian Army at Doda inaugurated a skill development workshop for automobile driving and repairing at Salman Usman Digital Driving Institute at Doda on 11 Sep 2024. The said skill development centre will help youth to become self- employed and economically independent.
The three weeks long course, which started for a batch of 20 youths, would end on 01 Oct 2024. The youths would be awarded certificates from the institute after completion of the course. The course is designed to equip youth with adequate knowledge, technical skills and attitude necessary for automobile repairing and driving. The youth would be imparted training by professionally competent instructors of affiliated civil experts.
During the inaugural session, the youth expressed their gratitude towards the Army for the noble initiative and providing them an opportunity to acquire skills for employment which can further be developed into a profession and a means of decent livelihood. Participation of women and the zeal to learn driving will also add to women empowerment.
The project is in line with Self Employment & Talent Utilisation initiative, aimed at highlighting and promoting self-employment amongst the youth. The people of the area
wholeheartedly appreciated the support provided by Indian Army to encourage self-skill activities among youth in Doda district.
This step will help in giving a boost to self-employment of youth in Doda region and also foster social and communal harmony among youth.
