The Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP) Jammu Mahanagar organized a protest today at the main gate of GGM Science College, Jammu, over the ongoing issue of delayed appointments of Academic Arrangement teachers in the Department of Higher Education. The demonstration was a result of increasing frustration among students due to the adverse impact on their academic progress caused by the shortage of teaching staff.
The delay in appointing Academic Arrangement teachers has disrupted classes across various colleges in Jammu since the beginning of the new academic session. Many students are unable to attend scheduled classes, leaving crucial portions of their syllabus incomplete. This has raised serious concerns regarding the quality of education and the academic future of thousands of students.
Students from multiple colleges participated in the protest, voicing their concerns and demanding immediate intervention from the Department of Higher Education, Government of Jammu and Kashmir. The students carried banners and raised slogans highlighting the negligence in fulfilling the necessary appointments of temporary teachers.
Addressing the gathering, several student leaders from ABVP Jammu Mahanagar emphasized the urgency of the issue and condemned the delay by the authorities. They criticized the government’s lack of responsiveness, stressing that such negligence was jeopardizing the academic future of the students.
“The absence of adequate teaching staff is creating immense difficulties for students,” said one of the student leaders. “We have come here to demand that the department take immediate steps to ensure that no more academic time is wasted.”
The protest saw a significant turnout, reflecting the widespread dissatisfaction among the student community.

Protesters warned that if the situation is not addressed promptly, they would intensify their agitation in the coming days.
ABVP Jammu Mahanagar has called for swift action from the Department of Higher Education, urging them to prioritize the appointments to restore normalcy in the academic environment and protect the interests of the students.
