JAMMU, Sept 4
Senior BJP leader and former deputy chief minister Kavinder Gupta strongly criticized Congress leader Rahul Gandhi over his remark on the restoration of statehood to Jammu and Kashmir, claiming that it exposes the Congress party’s lack of a coherent policy for the region.
In a statement issued to media persons, the BJP stalwart leader said that top leadership of his party has already assured the restoration of statehood to Jammu and Kashmir after the completion of assembly elections, making it clear that the Congress is attempting to mislead the public by raising an issue that is already settled. He said that the Congress has gone rudderless ahead of polls in J&K and that is the reason behind its central leadership trying to confuse the electorate by raising non-issues while sitting in the lap of a party (NC) which openly bats for bonhomie with terrorist country Pakistan.
He said, “BJP leadership including Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Home Minister Amit Shah has consistently promised that statehood will be restored to Jammu and Kashmir post-assembly elections. Neither of them has ever denied this commitment therefore it is pointless for the Congress to repeatedly raise this issue as if it is unresolved. The Congress party is simply trying to create an issue out of an issueless entity.”
He said, “The fact that Rahul Gandhi continues to harp on the statehood issue demonstrates that the Congress has become aimless in Jammu and Kashmir. His statements reflect the party’s lack of direction and its failure to present a credible vision for the future of the region. The people of Jammu and Kashmir deserve better than the empty promises and political opportunism that the Congress has to offer.”
“The BJP is focused on delivering on its promises and ensuring that the people of Jammu and Kashmir experience peace, progress, and prosperity. It is the right time that the public should not get swayed by the baseless rhetoric of the Congress leaders. Rather, it is necessary that people trust in the BJP’s proven leadership”, he maintained.
