Indian Council for Cultural Relations (ICCR), Ministry of External Affairs, Govt. ofIndia, Regional Office, Jammu & Kashmirin collaboration with Lagan Society for Art and Culture (Regd.) organized aDogri Sangeet Sandhyaat Writer’s Club, Abhinav Theatre Complex, Jammu. A vibrant celebration of the rich cultural heritage of Jammu featuring an array of traditional Dogri music and performances. The event was graced by the esteemed presence of Ms. Harvinder Kour (JKAS), Secretary, Jammu and Kashmir Academy of Art, Culture and Languages (JKAACL) who served as the Chief Guest.
The evening commenced with a Welcome Address by Mr. Rajesh Kumar, Director, Indian Council for Cultural Relations (ICCR),Regional Office, Jammu and Director, Passport Office, Regional Office, Jammu. In his address, Mr. Kumar highlighted the importance of preserving and promoting local art forms and commended the efforts of the organizers in bringing such a culturally significant event to the forefront. The Dogri Sangeet Sandhya was inaugurated with the lightening of traditional lamp by the dignitaries. Sh. Yash Paul Yash (Renowned Writer and Composer), spoke about the organization’s dedicated work since its inception in 2018. He emphasized LSAC’s ongoing commitment to nurturing and promoting the diverse cultural expressions of the region. The event was started with a Sufi Bhajan sung by Mr. Rajesh Kumar Verma followed by various dogri songs performed by Lagan Verma, Parmita Sharma, Aditya Sharma, Shingarika Malhotra, Sarthak Verma, Ram Bakshi, Parvinder Singh,Hinaya Kotwal, Kritika Chowdhery and Akash Sarmal. These artists were equally supported by Mr. Amit Anand (Tabla), Mr. Amit Sharma (Guitar), Mr. Rajesh Kumar Verma (Harmonium), Mr. Prince Bhatti (Keyboard) and Mr. Rohit Bains (Anchor). The event was coordinated by Ms. Reena Slathia, Cultural Officer, ICCR, RO, Jammu. Finally, the event concluded with a vote of thanks by the President, LSAC, Mr. Rajesh Kumar Verma.
