Assembly Elections-2024: Workshop/ Training programme for Political Parties on Election Process held at Bandipora

In preparation for the General Election to the Legislative Assembly 2024, a comprehensive workshop-cum-training programme for political parties, addressing crucial aspects of the electoral process, was conducted today at the Mini Secretariat Bandipora.
The workshop focused on the nomination process, qualifications and disqualifications, the use of IT applications, monitoring of election expenditure, and related issues such as the Media Certification and Monitoring Committee (MCMC) and paid news.
The workshop was presided over by RO-15 Bandipora, Shabir Ahmad Wani, and attended by Nodal Officer Expenditure Monitoring, Sheikh Aabid Manzoor, Nodal Officer MCMC, Aadil Manzoor Wani, ARO Aloosa, ARO Bandipora and representatives from various political parties and their technical teams to ensure clarity and compliance with electoral regulations.
Nodal Officer Expenditure Monitoring led an in-depth session on election expenditure. He outlined the legal limits on campaign expenditure and emphasized the importance of maintaining a transparent and accurate account of all expenses. The session also covered the necessity of keeping separate bank accounts for election funds and maintaining detailed account registers to ensure compliance with legal requirements.
Manzoor Ahmad Bhat, District Level Master Trainer (DLMT), provided a detailed explanation of the nomination process. He deliberated on the requirements for a valid nomination, including the documentation and forms that candidates must complete and submit. The session aimed to guide political parties and candidates through the procedural requirements to avoid any potential issues with their nominations.
Superintendent ITI, Sahil Rashid, highlighted the role of information technology in elections. He provided insights into various IT applications that are being used to streamline and manage the election process effectively. He elaborated on the use of SUVIDHA, cVIGIL, Saksham-ECI, and other election-related apps, emphasizing the importance of leveraging technology to enhance transparency, efficiency and accessibility in elections.
On the occasion, ARO Aloosa discussed various election-related processes, including the allotment of symbols, and emphasized the importance of proper understanding and adherence to electoral laws and regulations for smooth and successful elections.
Speaking on the occasion, RO-15 Bandipora stated that the workshop aimed to ensure a smooth and transparent electoral process in Bandipora, besides ensuring that all participants understand the electoral procedures and regulations. He added that such workshops serve as a valuable platform for addressing queries and providing guidance to political parties.
