Chandigarh, Aug 7
In a commendable endorsement of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s initiatives to enhance rural healthcare, Senior BJP leader and Rajya Sabha MP Er. Gulam Ali Khatana praised the expansion of the NP-NCD (National Programme for Prevention and Control of Non-Communicable Diseases) program.
Highlighting the introduction of new clinics and centers for early detection and management under the National Health Mission (NHM), Khatana emphasized that this expansion is poised to be a transformative measure for rural populations.
Khatana pointed out that the NP-NCD program represents a population-based initiative aimed at the prevention, control, and screening of common non-communicable diseases (NCDs), including three prevalent cancers. “This initiative has been rolled out across the country under the NHM as part of Comprehensive Primary Health Care,” he stated. “The program specifically targets individuals over 30 years of age, screening them for common NCDs such as Diabetes, Hypertension, and three common cancers: oral, breast, and cervical.”
The MP further explained that the screening for these NCDs and cancers is a crucial component of the service delivery framework under Ayushman Bharat – Ayushman Arogya Mandir. “By integrating these screenings into routine healthcare services, the initiative aims to ensure early detection and timely management of these conditions, ultimately improving health outcomes in rural areas”, he added.
Er. Gulam Ali Khatana’s appreciation for Prime Minister Modi’s efforts underscores the significance of the NP-NCD program in addressing the healthcare challenges faced by rural populations. The expansion of healthcare services and the focus on early detection and management are expected to bring about a significant positive impact on the health and well-being of people living in rural India.
