JAMMU, Aug 2
Senior BJP leader and former Deputy Chief Minister, Kavinder Gupta, has voiced strong disapproval over the negligence and lack of coordination within the Jal Shakti Department and the Power Department which has led to significant hardships for the residents of Wards No. 49 and 50 in the Channi area of Jammu district, who are grappling with severe water scarcity.
In a statement issued here today, Kavinder Gupta said, “The BJP Government at the Centre is working with a mission mode to address people’s issues on priority. However, the careless attitude of certain officials in the Jal Shakti Department and the Power Department is causing severe water scarcity in Channi area, which is unacceptable.” He emphasized the government’s unwavering commitment to resolving public grievances promptly and efficiently. The senior BJP leader said that the water scarcity issue in Channi has reached a critical point, causing immense distress among the residents. Despite the completion of two tubewells intended to alleviate the water shortage, the supply remains non-functional due to bureaucratic inertia and lack of coordination between the departments. He questioned, “When two tubewells are ready, why are they not functional? This inefficiency is depriving the people of their basic right to drinking water.”
Expressing his deep concern, Kavinder highlighted the severe impact of this neglect on daily life in the affected wards. “The residents are facing an unprecedented crisis, and it is the duty of the authorities sitting at the helm of affairs to ensure their basic needs are met. The inaction and negligence of these departments are unacceptable and will not be tolerated at any cost,” he asserted.
The former deputy Chief Minister has called for immediate and stern action against the officials responsible for this lapse. He demanded accountability and transparency in the functioning of these departments to prevent such issues in the future. “The BJP Government at the Centre is committed to ensuring that the basic needs of the people are met without any hindrance. The concerned officials must be held accountable for their failure to provide drinking water facilities,” he reiterated. Furthermore, Kavinder assured the residents of Wards No. 49 and 50 that he would personally oversee the resolution of this issue. He committed to working closely with the concerned departments to ensure that the tubewells are made operational without further delay, restoring the much-needed water supply to the area.
