Tarn Taran August 2nd, 2024: ( ) Ravinder Singh Brahmpura, the Vice President of Shiromani Akali Dal and the in-charge of the Khadoor Sahib Legislative Assembly constituency, visited the flood-affected villages in Khadoor Sahib, following the recent heavy rainfall that led to devastating floods.
During his visit, former MLA Brahmpura addressed the media and expressed deep concern over the significant losses suffered by the residents of Khadoor Sahib due to the unprecedented rainfall. He highlighted the destruction of crops, loss of lives, homes, and livestock, leading to a dire situation where many individuals have been displaced.
In a scathing critique of the state government’s response to the crisis, Brahmpura called upon Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann to promptly assess the damage to farmers’ crops in these critical circumstances. He demanded compensation of Rs. 50,000 per acre for affected farmers and urged the government to implement measures to mitigate future flood risks in the region.
“The agricultural community in Khadoor Sahib is reeling from the aftermath of this natural disaster, with widespread devastation affecting not only their livelihoods but also their basic living conditions,” Stated Former MLA Brahmpura.
“It is imperative for the Punjab government to demonstrate swift and decisive action in providing immediate relief and support to the affected residents, particularly the farmers who are the backbone of our rural economy,” he added.
“The lack of proactive measures and timely intervention by the government has resulted in exacerbating the suffering of our constituents, leaving them vulnerable and struggling to cope with the aftermath of the floods,” blamed Brahmpura.
“The failure to adequately address the needs of those affected reflects a disregard for the welfare and well-being of the people of Khadoor Sahib, underscoring the urgency for meaningful government assistance and rehabilitation efforts,” he lamented.
