In a commendable initiative to support the local community, the Indian Army organized a free medical and veterinary camp on 30th July 2024 at Village Mastandhara. This camp aimed to provide essential medical facilities to the people and their livestock in the remote areas of Mastandhara, a village known for its challenging terrain and weather conditions.
The camp saw the participation of an army doctor, civil doctors, and local civilian health workers from the village, all working together to assist the patients. The primary objective of the camp was to ensure that the local populace could lead a healthy and normal life despite the difficulties posed by their environment.
During the camp, a total of 188 individuals received medical attention. This included nine health workers, 48 females, 57 males, and 72 children. The services provided encompassed free health check-ups and the distribution of necessary medicines. The camp also catered to the veterinary needs of the community, providing care for 54 animals, including four horses, 12 buffaloes, and 18 goats. In addition to medical and veterinary services, the camp featured a lecture on immunization, family planning, and child healthcare. This educational session aimed to spread awareness among the people in these remote regions about preventive measures for common diseases, hygiene practices, sanitation, and the symptoms of various illnesses. The goal was to equip the community with knowledge that could help them maintain better health and prevent disease.
The Indian Army’s efforts in organizing this camp reflect its commitment to the well-being of the Gujjar-Bakarwal community, who often face significant challenges in accessing healthcare due to their remote locations. By bringing healthcare services directly to them, the Army is helping to bridge the gap and improve the quality of life for these residents.
The medical camp at Mastandhara is part of a broader initiative by the Indian Army to support rural and remote communities across the region.
