In an inspiring display of sportsmanship and empowerment, the Department of Social Welfare, Doda, in collaboration with the Department of Youth Services & Sports, Doda, successfully organized an Inter Block District Level Girls Volleyball Tournament at the Sports Stadium Doda.
This event was a significant part of the Beti Bachao Beti Padhao initiative, aimed at promoting the importance of education and welfare for girls.
The tournament brought together talented young female athletes from 17 blocks within the district, showcasing their skills and determination. The event aimed to not only highlight the sporting talents of these young women but also to encourage greater participation of girls in sports, fostering a spirit of healthy competition and teamwork.
The event was graced by the presence of Deputy Commissioner Doda, Harvinder Singh, the District Social Welfare Officer, Doda Tariq Pervez Qazi, and District Youth Services and Sports Officer Doda Sunil Kumar. They emphasized the importance of such initiatives in empowering young girls and promoting gender equality.
While speaking on the occasion, DC Doda said that he hopes the success of girls from district Doda will raise the name of the state and country. He also appreciated the great achievements of girls from the district in the field of sports activities. DC Doda noted that every panchayat in the district has its own play grounds, and every child could utilize these venues for promoting and shaping their sports activities and talent.
A pledge ceremony regarding the sports celebration was also conducted during the event.
Earlier, DC Doda was warmly welcomed by the District Social Welfare Officer Doda along with the District Youth Services and Sports Officer Doda, as well as officials from the social welfare and sports departments.
The Deputy Commissioner Doda inaugurated the tournament by cutting the ribbon, and the first volleyball match between Block Bhaderwah and Block Assar began.
The Deputy Commissioner made positive introductions with the participants of the volleyball teams.
“Sports play a crucial role in the holistic development of individuals, and by providing a platform for our young girls to excel, we are taking significant steps towards their empowerment,” said the District Social Welfare Officer in his address.
He also mentioned that the efforts of the honorable Prime Minister have been instrumental in spreading awareness regarding the need to increase the sex ratio.
The tournament concluded with an award ceremony where the winning teams were felicitated with trophies and certificates, recognizing their hard work and dedication. This event marks another successful step in the ongoing efforts to uplift and empower the girls of Doda through the Beti Bachao Beti Padhao initiative.
