Over 5,000 posts in various departments of Jammu and Kashmir are awaiting recruitment exams, eagerly anticipated by the youth of the Union Territory. The major positions include more than 4,200 posts for police constables, over 700 posts for police sub-inspectors, more than 75 posts for Naib Tehsildars, and over 400 posts for Patwaris.
The Jammu and Kashmir Services Selection Board (JKSSB) is at the forefront of filling the police constable vacancies. Given the prolonged unemployment in the region, the Board has emphasized the need for timely recruitment and urged candidates to prepare their documents. The board has issued a notice advising candidates to keep their documents ready, indicating that the recruitment process for over 4,200 police constable posts may commence soon. This proactive approach by the JKSSB aims to streamline the recruitment process and ensure that deserving candidates are given opportunities at the earliest.
In 2023, the JKSSB conducted exams for 1,200 posts of police sub-inspectors, a significant move to bolster the police force. This year, the finance department is expected to announce recruitment for 972 posts of accounts assistants, among others, by August or September.
