In keeping with the longstanding tradition of maintaining strong ties with veterans, the Indian Army organized an interactive session at Mendhar, Poonch on 05 Jul 2024. This initiative was aimed at addressing the concerns and welfare of Ex-Servicemen (ESM) and Veer Naris (war widows), reflecting the Army’s commitment to their well-being and continuous engagement with them.
The event saw a significant turnout of veterans, who actively participated in the discussions.
The primary focus was on enhancing employment opportunities for veterans through NSDC (National Skill Development Corporation) accredited courses.
These courses are designed to equip veterans with new skills and qualifications, facilitating their reintegration into the civilian workforce and ensuring a stable post-service career.
Another critical issue discussed was the various challenges faced by veterans in their daily lives. The participants shared their experiences and the difficulties they encounter, ranging from healthcare needs to pension-related issues.
The Army representatives assured the veterans of their support and committed to working towards resolving these problems effectively.
Women empowerment was also a key topic during the interaction. The discussion highlighted the importance of providing better opportunities and support systems for Veer Naris. Empowering these women is seen as crucial not only for their personal development but also for the overall progress of the community.
