In a significant stride towards improving rural water supply infrastructure, District Development Council (DDC), Jammu, Chairman, Bharat Bhushan Bodhi, today inaugurated the digging work of Water Supply Scheme Kala Kaam in village of Kala Kaam. This ambitious project, valued at Rs 16.35 crore, is a vital component of the ‘Jal Jeevan Mission’ initiative aimed at ensuring sustainable and reliable water supply to rural households.
The Water Supply Scheme Kala Kaam includes the construction of two tube-wells, one borewell, six overhead tanks, and two ground service reservoirs (GSRs). These facilities are expected to dramatically improve the water supply situation in Kala Kaam and surrounding areas, providing clean and safe drinking water to thousands of residents.
In a remarkable gesture, Sushma Devi and Kaushalya Devi generously donated their land to the government for the construction of this water supply scheme, exemplifying community spirit and cooperation.
Addressing the gathering, DDC Chairman Bharat Bhushan Bodhi expressed his gratitude to the local community and land donors for their support. He emphasized the government’s commitment to providing essential services and improving the quality of life for rural residents under the Jal Jeevan Mission. He stated, “The Water Supply Scheme Kala Kaam is a significant step towards fulfilling our promise of providing clean drinking water to every household. He said that clean drinking water is the first and foremost basic necessity after air for the sustenance of life and therefore it is the duty of all those working at the grass roots level to put in efforts on war footing to augment the Prime Minister’s endeavour of providing tap water to every household under the Jal Jeevan Mission.
