Taking the association between NCC and SKUAST jammu as part of campaign of spreading the spirit of Entrepreneurship NCC Group Jammu under the aegis of JK & Ladakh Directorate conducted another visit to SKUAST – Jammu exposing the cadets to new vistas in Agricultural Entrepreneurship. Exposure & awareness to new Technologies organised by 2 J&K Girls NCC Battalion to SKUAST and conduct of demonstration by Dr Gurdev Chand, Professor and Chief Scientist in Hydroponics went very well with the cadets. The Passion and Purpose with which Dr Gurdev engaged the NCC Cadets and clarified each and every query of the cadets was awesome inspiring.The enthusiasm of cadets was seen to be believed.
During the session Dr Gurdev Chand elucidated the transition of agriculture into agro-business and agro-tourism showcasing the potential of Hydroponics in revolutionizing farming practices.He clarified the technique and execution of such initiatives in Naturally Ventilated Poly Houses ( NVPH) as well as Fan and pad system by which temperature differential can be created. The aspects of subsidies being given under the government schemes were also informed. Dr Gurdev Chand underscored the significance of initiatives like terrace gardening enabling individuals to cultivate a variety of exotic & regular vegetables.
The aim is to make the youth more aware of options available to make the agricultural practices more sustainable, profitable and easy to engage.
The majority of cadets come from humble background and are not aware of the regional schemes and initiatives which can empower and enable the youth with enhanced skills. The presence of Mrs Heema Tripathi Deputy Director Extension, Dr Vikas Sharma ,PI IDP NEHAD Project , Dr Romesh Salgotra, Director School of Biotechnology highlighted the involvement and passion of the Faculty of SKUAST in the empowerment of youth. NCC under the higher guidelines and directives has initiated a process of acting as a conduit in making the aspirations of youth meet the new opportunities. All this is being pursued under the visionary leadership of Maj Gen Rajesh Kumar Sachdeva, ADG, NCC Directorate of Jammu Kashmir and Ladakh who believes that every exposure and awareness drive leaves the youth more aware and more aware youth can have considered choices while selecting their future course of life. ADG extends his gratitude to the Hon’ble Vice Chancellor SKUAST-Jammu Dr BN Tripathi for facilitating this initiative aimed at youth empowerment.
NCC is playing a pivotal role as an interface in equipping cadets with essential skills , entrepreneur acumen and environmental awareness as part of its aim of producing an organised, trained and motivated youth which is future ready and is able to negotiate contemporary challenges with ease.
NCC as an organisation is playing a huge part in contributing towards VIKSIT Bharat ( Developed India).
