Chandigarh/JAMMU, June 6
Shiromani Akali Dal senior leader and general secretary Bhai Karnail Singh Pir Mohammad said that Kangana Ranaut, the newly elected BJP MP from Mandi in Himachal Pradesh, was escorted by a woman CISF officer, Kulwinder Kaur, at the Chandigarh airport. The officer faced protests and insults. He stated that this was a justified action in light of the farmers’ movement against the BJP.
Mr. Pir Mohammad expressed surprise at the “poisonous words” from BJP MP Kangana Ranaut towards Punjab, labeling the youth as terrorists. He condemned the national media’s efforts to distort Punjab’s history by associating Punjabis with Khalistan, calling it unfortunate. He called on Punjab BJP president Sunil Jakhar to clarify the situation and explain Ranaut’s behavior towards the youth and people of Punjab.
Mr. Pir Mohammad attributed the Shiromani Akali Dal’s heavy defeat in the 2024 Lok Sabha elections to the BJP.
He also accused Dera chief Gurmeet Ram Rahim of being an agent sent by the BJP to tarnish Punjab’s image. He affirmed that the Shiromani Akali Dal would always stand for the protection of Punjab, Punjabis, and Punjabiyat, taking whatever steps necessary to safeguard the state.
