Dogra Degree College organizes guest lecture on Intellectual Property Rights

Dogra Degree College in collaboration with Institutional and Innovation Cell hosted an insightful guest lecture on Intellectual Property Rights (IPR) for the students. The event, held on 22nd May, 2024 at Conference Hall, aimed to enhance students’ understanding of the critical role IPR plays in today’s business landscape.
Rachna Devi, Convener, IIC presented the welcome address, wherein Dr. Bela Thakur, Principal Dogra Degree College presented a momento to the guest as a token of appreciation.
The lecture was delivered by Ramnik Bali, Programme Facilitator and Assistant Professor at Dogra Law College who brought a wealth of knowledge and practical insights to the session. During the lecture, Bali covered a broad range of topics including the basics of intellectual property, types of IPR i.e., patents, trademarks, copyrights, and geographical indicators, sound marks and service marks. He also elaborated the importance of IPR in fostering innovation and economic growth. The speaker further discussed current trends in intellectual property law and provided real-world examples of IPR cases that have shaped the industry.
Dr. Samar Dev Singh Charak, Secretary Dogra Educational Trust appreciated the initiative taken by the Convener IIC of Dogra Degree College. The interactive session was attended by Dr. Geetika Sehgal, Coordinator, DET and members of IIC of Dogra Degree College and concluded with a lively Question & Answer segment, where students engaged with Bali on various aspects of IPR. The session winded up with a formal vote of thanks by Amarpreet Kaur, Co-Convener, IIC. All the students and staff members settled in the courtyard for a group photograph.
