MCC, MRC & CSU organized awareness programme on documentation and Conservation of Manuscript during celebration of ” World Heritage Day”

Today on 18.04.2024 World Heritage Day was Celebrated by Manuscript Conservation Centre, Shashvat Art Gallery/ Museum and Resource Person from Manuscript Resource centre JAMMU, established by National Mission for Manuscript, Indra Gandhi National Centre for Arts, Ministry of Culture, Government of India, New Delhi. Organised awareness Programme on documentation and Conservation of Manuscript in Collaboration with Central Sanskrit University, Shri Ranbir Campus Kot Bhalwal Jammu. The Function was inaugurated by Professor Shree dhar Mishra, Director of Central Sanskrit University was the Chief Guest of the Function, Programme start with Lighting of traditional lamp under Vedic Mantrochran, Swastivandana. The First session of the function was held by Dr Peeyoosh Bala and Dr Baldev Chand Sharma briefing and aware about the documentation, Survey and Cataloguing of Manuscript as per National Mission for Manuscripts norms, after briefing about the documentation. The key Resource Person Dr Suresh Kr Abrol, Director of MCC Jammu and his team included Mr Arvind Kotiyal senior Conservator, Sh Kewal Krishan Kotwal Technical Assistant and Conservator, Mr Kailash Kumar Junior Conservator and Mr Romesh Chander Ji advisor of the Museum.
There were two sessions of workshop, in the 1st session, Director of Museum, Dr Suresh Kr Abrol Created awareness about the various aspects of the conservation and preservation of manuscripts and their importance, further he highlighted the various scientific method taken during Preventive as well as Curative Conservation of Manuscript and other related tangible cultural heritage of the region.
The second technical session was headed by Mr Arvind Kotiyal, Sh Kewal Krishan Kotwal and Mr Kailash Kumar from conservation division of MCC Jammu. During this session, they ably demonstrated to the students and scholars’, various method for conservation and preservation of manuscripts by dry cleaning and using acid free Harvanium sheet, handmade paper for making of Folder, planks, and storage of manuscript Box. Around 60 students / scholars of different departments participated in the workshop. The function was concluded with the vote of thanks presented by Dr Ashish Sharma Assistant Professor, among other present in the work shop was Prof. (Dr) Ramdass HOD Joytish deptt., Prof. Satish Kapoor HOD from Sahetya deptt., Prof. (Dr) Ghanisham MISHRA HOD from Darshan deptt. Dr Pramod and Dr Madan Jha.
