The festival of Navratras, deriving its essence from the amalgamation of ‘Nav’ meaning Nine and ‘Ratri’ meaning Nights, is celebrated with immense fervor and devotion across Hindu communities worldwide. Marking the triumph of good over evil, Navratras hold profound significance in Hinduism, embodying a period of spiritual reflection, prayer, and celebration.
At Shri Lakshmi Narayan Mandir in Gandhi Nagar, Jammu, the tradition of honoring Navratras continues with unwavering zeal and commitment. The nine-day festival commenced with the Beeza-Ropan ceremony, a solemn occasion graced by the esteemed presence of President Th. Gulchain Singh Charak (Former Minister) alongside office bearers, trustees, special invitees, and a multitude of devotees. The ceremony was marked by the lighting of the Akhand Jyoti and the recitation of religious mantras and bhajans, setting the tone for the auspicious days ahead.
Shri Lakshmi Narayan Mandir Management Trust, Gandhi Nagar, Jammu, orchestrates a myriad of traditional and religious programs each year during Navratras, enriching the spiritual experience of devotees.
Th. Gulchain Singh Charak, in his address, underscored the profound importance of Navratras in Hinduism and elucidated their religious significance, garnering appreciation and admiration from the assembled gathering.
As the sun set, the temple resonated with melodious Bhajans and religious songs during the Bhajan Sandhya program, presented in collaboration with Bhartiya Sangeet Sansthan, Jammu. Artists from the Radio Station captivated the audience with their soul-stirring renditions, further enhancing the atmosphere of devotion and reverence.
The Maha Arti, a highlight of the evening, witnessed the participation of prominent figures including S.C. Rekhi, General Secretary; Prem Sharma; Jagjit Singh Jamwal; Kapil Slathia; KB Magotra; Parshant Sharma; Smt. Kiran Rajput; Kulbir Singh Chib; Sandeep Singh; Pritam Singh; and Indu Bhushan Sharma, who shared their thoughts and joined in the collective prayer at Shri Lakshmi Narayan Mandir, Gandhi Nagar.
