The Deputy Commissioner (DC) Ganderbal, Shyambir today convened a meeting to deliberate and plan for the smooth celebration of the upcoming Navratra and Eid-ul-Fitr festivities in district Ganderbal.
The meeting entailed a comprehensive discussion on various aspects of arrangements, including security measures, provision of safe drinking water, uninterrupted power supply, first-aid services, sanitation, availability of fire tenders, street lighting, cleanliness and transport management in the district.
Heads of different departments were issued necessary directives to ensure meticulous arrangements in their respective domains, with special emphasis on cleanliness and security to avert any untoward incidents during the festive days.
The Jal Shakti department was entrusted with ensuring a consistent supply of drinking water, while the Ex. Engineer PDD was directed to ensure uninterrupted power supply throughout the festival period.
Maintaining the cleanliness of the town was highlighted, with the EO Municipal Council Ganderbal directed to take necessary actions especially in and around major Mosques and Eidgah Duderhama where major congregation prayers are expected. Civil society’s cooperation was encouraged in keeping the town clean. Similarly, BDOs were directed to take cleanliness measures in their respective jurisdictions. In order to prevent profiteering and black marketing by business establishments operating in Ganderbal, the Food Safety department was directed to conduct market checking across all markets of the district to ensure all essential commodities are sold at Government approved rates as per the quality standards.
The Traffic Department received instructions to deploy an adequate number of personnel in areas prone to traffic congestion.
ARTO Ganderbal was directed to ensure adequate transport facility on all the roads of the district besides transport service shall be made available on Ganderbal-Hazratbal and Ganderbal-Soura routes on all important days like Shabi Qadir, Jumat-ul-vida and Eid.
Regarding arrangements at Kheer Bhawani temple, the DC directed all the departments to ensure adequate arrangements are put in place on Navratra Days starting from 9th of this month.
The meeting was attended by Additional Deputy Commissioner, Gulzar Ahmad, ASP Ganderbal, SDM Kangan, Executive Engineer KPDCL, Tehsildars, BODs, other district and sectoral officers, representatives of Dharmarth Trust Kheer Bhawani, Qamariyah Muslim Aquaf trust Ganderbal and other concerned.
